Free farm in a country setting
The [Link http://lifestylecentre.co/ Lifestyle Centre] in Samford is an idyllic place to spend a morning with your family. It is a place dedicated to health, wellbeing and home, and is pretty as a picture, set in the heart of Samford Valley surrounded by lakes, trees and flowers.
There is a cafe, homewares and specialty stores, garden centre, yoga studio, beauty parlour and a beautiful farm. It is a one stop shop for getting back to nature and enjoying some peace and serenity in a location that is not too far from Brisbane.
If you go with your children, you can enjoy the farm walk. On the walk you can meet ducks, chickens, turkeys, geese, goats, donkeys, and we were lucky enough to meet a baby cow. Who was very friendly and came over for a pat.
The farm walk is a free experience, and if you want to feed the chickens and ducks, they just ask that you pay $1 for feed. The donkeys were particularly cute and not shy at all.
My toddler had a wonderful time interacting with the animals in a farm setting and then visiting the baby chicks and ducklings at the City Chicks shop afterwards. We almost brought home a baby duckling, but luckily I managed to talk him out of it.
If you are hungry, Cafe Lagarto has delicious homemade food and coffee, and there is a small play area for the kids. And if you go on a Saturday, you can enjoy the Farmers Markets, where you can enjoy fresh organic fruit and vegetable that is grown right in the Samford Valley. There is also local produce sold at the shops including preserves, honey, jams and artisan food.
If you go with just your partner, you can also enjoy The Lakeside walk. It is approximately 15 minutes and includes resting areas along the way. It is a very peaceful and lovely setting.
The Lifestyle Centre is only a five minute drive from Samford Village, and on the tourist drive to Mount Glorious. So it can be incorporated into a day trip, or visited as a stand alone destination.
