A playground with beautiful views and coffee close by
When moving to the northern bayside suburbs of Brisbane, one of the things that I was most excited about was my now close proximity to [Link https://www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/things-to-see-and-do/council-venues-and-precincts/parks/parks-by-suburb/brighton-parks Decker Park] in Brighton. It is right on the bay, at the end of the Hornibrook Bridge, and there is a sandy area for digging sandcastles and hunting for crabs and shells.
Decker Park is a beautiful bayside park with a great playground for all ages, a wide open green space to kick a ball and lots of places for sandy play. Some of the best features of Decker Park include:
Play fort with ramps and slides
Sandpit area with diggers to operate
Swings
Climbing walls
Puzzles
Half Basketball Court
Gym Equipment
Dog off leash area
Picnic shelters
Public Toilets
Plenty of parking
There is plenty of shady spots provided by sails and trees, and lots of space to set up for a birthday party, mothers group meet up or family gathering. It does get very popular on weekends though.
It is one of my favourite parks to visit with my toddler as well because you can also ride along the designated bike path on the water in the fresh open air and there are tons of lovely spots to stop along the way. But even if you just stayed at the playground, there is enough equipment to keep your little ones occupied for hours.
If you are looking for coffee before your visit, [Link https://www.facebook.com/blume.brighton/ Blume Cafe] is lovely and only a short walk or an even shorter drive away.
Decker Park often is visited by the Brisbane City Council Mobile Library so make sure you check out the [Link https://www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/things-to-see-and-do/council-venues-and-precincts/libraries/library-locations/mobile-library-services website] for details.
So the next time you are on the hunt for a new playground, keep Decker Park in mind!
