Halloween is officially celebrated on 31 October so the markets will give you a head start on one of the scariest days of the year. Halloween dates back to the Celtic festival known as Samhain, which was held on November 1 in contemporary calendars. It was understood that the souls of the dead returned to their homes, so people dressed in costumes and lit bonfires to ward off spirits. In this way, popular Halloween tropes such as witches, ghosts, and goblins have become associated with the holiday.
To enjoy the Redcliffe Markets Festival of Frights, simply head to Redcliffe the coastal town of the same name south of Brisbane. It is located 38 kilometres from the Brisbane Central Business District.
