Theme and Leisure Parks near Brisbane

by Sally Foster (follow)
Jam packed fun to be had at one of these top theme parks

There is nothing I love better than a theme park, and going to a theme park with a kid in tow is even more fun. The joy at seeing their favourite characters brought to life, cuddling Australian animals or riding some crazy coasters is incredible.

We are lucky enough in Brisbane to have so many theme parks and leisure parks right on our doorstep. Here are some of the best.

Brisbane Crochet Club will host two very special kids crochet classes during the winter holidays that are perfect for children who would love to learn a new hobby.
Hot Tip: To save some money, choose one of these options:

Buy a yearly or annual pass. You can save big bucks with these if you think you will go back more than once.

Check if you can get cheaper tickets and discounts through your private health insurance, Flybuys or RACQ. You can often get 10% off with these.

Book online before you go. You can often save and you also miss a big line. Double win.

Do you know of any other sure fire ways to save money on the theme parks?

1. Wet 'N' Wild

Australia's number one water park, kids will love wet n wild junior and the river rapids. They do movies under the stars and there are gentle rapids for the littlest members of the family. Attractions for kids include:

- Wet N Wild Junior
- River Rapids
- Calypso Beach
- Whirlpool Springs
- Giant Wave Pool

Pacific Motorway, Oxenford, Gold Coast

You and your family are invited to a Photography for Parents Workshop on Sunday 28th April at New Farm Park.
Come along to Edge centres in South Brisbane, Milton, West End, Strathpine and Pimpama for a morning of entertainment the whole family will enjoy!

2. Sea World

A marine park with gorgeous sea life animals and incredible rides. It's a great blend of rides and sea creatures. Kids will love Nickelodeon World and the wild life encounters including swimming with dolphins.

3. Dreamworld

Gold Coast's biggest theme park that is jam packed with rides and home to tiger island. This is the theme park of my childhood and I have fond memories of cuddling Kenny Koala. Now your kids can visit ABC Kids World or Wiggles World.

Dreamworld Parkway, Coomera

4. Aussie World

Aussie World has family friendly rides, mini golf, sideshow ally and great food, making it perfect for all ages. It is less busy and cheaper than the really big theme parks as well.

73 Frizzo Road, Palmview

5. Thunderbird Park

Thunderbird Park is a rain forest playground with high ropes, fossicking, laser skirmish, mini golf, horse riding and more. There are accomodation options to stay there and it is close by to the beautiful Mount Tamborine which is more of an adults playground with antiquing and delicious food options. Plus it is nearby to bush walking and the rainforest.

6. Australia Zoo

Chock full of animals, featuring Australia's best, Australia Zoo also has kid's rides and some excellent playgrounds. Their annual pass will serve you well. Check out one Brisbane's Mums account of her experiences at Australia Zoo here
